If you want to build a massive stub count in MLB The Show 26, playing the Community Marketplace is easily the most reliable way to do it. While there are a few different strategies for flipping cards, nothing beats the return on investment you get from hunting down Live Series Gold cards right before they cross the 85 overall (OVR) threshold into Diamond status.
When a player jumps from Gold to Diamond, their quick-sell value gets a massive baseline bump, meaning you can lock in guaranteed profits if you buy in early enough at Gold prices. The trick, of course, is knowing who to target and who to avoid.
Top Gold-to-Diamond Targets
  • Elly De La Cruz (SS - Reds): Elly is always a highly watched card because of his glitchy speed and power toolset, but his real-world stats are showing sustained improvements. Because his underlying metrics are trending upward, he is a top-priority investment target. Try to scoop him up as close to his baseline Gold price as possible before the next roster update drops.
  • Michael Harris II (OF - Braves): If you are looking for a incredibly safe volume play, Harris is your guy. The data projections for upcoming updates heavily favor him, making him a prime candidate to stash away in bulk. When a card looks this safe, buying in quantity is the best way to maximize your returns.
  • Jackson Chourio (OF - Brewers): Chourio has been on an absolute tear, and his summer hot streak has caught everyone's attention. He is consistently trending toward a guaranteed Diamond upgrade based on his current production. His price will only rise as the update gets closer, so don't wait too long to buy in.
  • Drew Rasmussen (SP - Rays): On the pitching side of things, Rasmussen is one of the strongest targets on the market. His tracking numbers are heavily pointing toward that 85+ OVR rating bump. Pitchers can be a bit volatile, but his consistency makes him a great hold.
  • Shay Langeliers (C - Athletics): Finding high-quality catchers is always tough, which makes Langeliers an intriguing option. His raw power numbers and overall offensive output keep him hovering right on the edge of the Diamond tier. If he strings together a few more big games, he will easily cross the threshold.

Strong Pitcher & Plus-One Holds
  • Cristopher Sánchez (SP - Phillies): Sánchez is an interesting case because he is already sitting comfortably at an 85+ baseline. However, his utterly dominant season has him tracking even higher. He is a fantastic "plus-one" hold as he makes a serious push toward the high-diamond (90+ OVR) barrier.
  • Yandy Díaz (1B - Rays): Díaz is a textbook hold for a standard attribute boost. Right now, there is a noticeable gap between his mediocre in-game ratings and his actual, high-level real-life production. Expect San Diego Studio to bridge that gap in a future update, giving his attributes a nice lift.

Risky Traps to Avoid or Sell
  • Drake Baldwin (C - Braves): On paper, Baldwin looks like an appealing target, but an unfortunate injury cost him crucial playing time. Because he missed a significant sample size on the field, the risk for an immediate upgrade is incredibly high. It is better to put your stubs elsewhere for now.
  • Nico Hoerner (2B - Cubs): Hoerner's card might look tempting, but his underlying analytics have completely stagnated. Investing in him right now is essentially locking your capital into a dead stub spot that will not generate returns anytime soon. Sell if you have him.
  • Mike Trout (CF - Angels): The legendary Mike Trout always carries a massive "name value" price premium in the Marketplace. Unfortunately, that inflated price tag does not match his actual upgrade trajectory at this point in his career. You are paying a premium for the name, not the profit margin—stay away.
