Look, we have all been there. You are running through the Rust Belt, carrying a backpack full of hard-earned loot, when a fully coordinated three-man squad rolls up on you. In a team-focused extraction shooter like Arc Raiders, your immediate instinct might be to panic. Due to the game's strict tactical layout and unforgiving team-focused damage scaling, attempting to face a coordinated trio head-on is a fast track back to the lobby.
But being outnumbered does not mean you are outmatched. To consistently survive and dominate 1v3 combat scenarios, you have to change the rules of engagement. You cannot fight them all at once. Instead, your entire goal is to aggressively exploit advanced movement mechanics and turn a chaotic 1v3 into three separate, highly intentional 1v1 duels. Here is exactly how to pull it off.
1. Isolate and Segment the Enemy Team
Facing three players in an open field is a straight-up death sentence. If they can all see you at the same time, their combined fire will melt your shield bars before you can even track their locations. Your very first move must be to force them to break their formation.
  • Break Line of Sight: Do not stand your ground. Immediately sprint away and force the enemy team to chase you through tight indoor corridors, narrow doorways, or rugged, broken terrain. Use the environment to physically block their shared angles.
  • Exploit Chokepoints: Squads get overconfident when they are hunting a solo player. Let them sprint blindly after you. Naturally, the most aggressive, over-eager player will pull way ahead of their teammates. The moment they separate from the pack, you turn around and serve them up a clean, isolated 1v1 opportunity before their friends can catch up.
  • Never Split Your Damage: This is a golden rule. Focus your entire output on a single target until they are fully knocked down. Splitting your bullets across multiple shield bars achieves absolutely nothing because it allows them to rotate out and recharge. One fully downed enemy completely changes the psychological momentum of the fight.

2. Abuse High-Tier Movement Tech
Arc Raiders rewards hyper-fluid, aggressive movement. As a solo player, your agility is your greatest shield. You need to use advanced animation cancels to confuse and dismantle enemy squads who expect predictable targets.
  • The Slide-Shoot-Roll Combo: While sprinting, hit your Crouch key to initiate a slide, take a high-damage shot, and then instantly press Dodge Roll before your slide animation finishes. This mechanics trick completely breaks your forward momentum and snaps you cleanly back behind nearby cover, leaving your opponents shooting at the thin air where you used to be.
  • The Cancel-Roll Weapon Swap: Pulling out a secondary weapon normally feels slow and clunky during a frantic gunfight. You can bypass this lag by triggering a weapon swap and instantly hitting your dodge roll. You will come out of the roll with your new gun already raised and ready to fire, bypassing the sluggish drawing animation entirely.
  • Stamina Preservation: Your movement tech is completely tied to your stamina pool. Never sprint blindly into open areas or let your stamina bar bottom out. Entering a 1v3 encounter with a completely drained stamina bar leaves you a sitting duck, entirely unable to slide, roll, or dodge out of incoming danger.

3. Leverage Area Denial and Crowded Hazards
The Rust Belt is a chaotic, hostile place. Use that environmental chaos to tip the scales back in your favor when you are being hunted by a full squad.
  • Deploy Gadgets: When you are retreating down narrow hallways or stairwells, drop Burner Mines or Jolt Mines directly behind you. These devices do not just slow down over-aggressive rushers; they actively chip away at their armor bars before the enemies can even get a clean look at you.
  • The Smoke and Tag Combination: This is a lethal tactical loop. Throw a Smoke Grenade directly at your feet or in a tight chokepoint to completely obscure your location. Immediately after, toss a Tagging Grenade inside the cloud. This brilliant combo grants you temporary, wall-hack style visibility on incoming squads while they remain completely blinded by the thick smoke screen.
  • Aggro Local ARC Machines: If you find yourself completely pinned down with no clean escape angle, make a run directly through an active ARC zone. Large, dangerous machines like the Bombardier do not take sides—they automatically target the loudest, most aggressive group in the area. Let the machine distract the trio, giving you the perfect window to heal up or reposition for a flank.

4. Master the Rapid Healing Economy
You cannot win a 1v3 if you do not know how to reset. Staying alive requires keeping your health pools topped off mid-fight without sacrificing your precious mobility.
  • The Slide-Heal: Did you know you do not have to stand still to heal? You can actually initiate your healing animations while actively sliding. Use a slide down hills or flat corridors to regenerate your armor or health while keeping yourself a moving, difficult target.
  • Rapid Health Burst: Keep your quick-use wheel optimized. Always map a Vita Shot and sterile bandages side-by-side. Activating a Vita Shot and instantly following it up with a bandage triggers an incredibly rapid full-health recovery combo that catches enemies completely off guard when they think you are low.
  • Shield Stack: When your armor is completely shattered, pair a standard Shield Recharger with a Surge Shield Charger to instantly boost heavy or blue shields back to functional levels. Never attempt to heal or recharge armor behind thin wood panels or soft cover, as the ballistic physics in Arc Raiders allow bullets to easily pierce through flimsy structures. Always look for concrete, metal, or solid machinery when resetting.

5. Control the Tempo and Play Free Loadouts
Ultimately, dominating a 1v3 comes down to controlling the psychological pace of the encounter and keeping your cool under extreme pressure.
  • Avoid Long-Range Attrition: Never let a squad bait you into a long-distance sniper duel. It is a massive waste of your vital resources, and even if you manage to hit an incredible headshot and down one of them, their teammates have plenty of time and cover to safely pull off a revive. Keep the fight close, fast, and dynamic.
  • Practice Without Fear: Building the muscle memory required for these high-intensity wins takes time. The best way to learn is by loading into matches using the Free Loadout feature. Pushing directly into aggressive gunfights with zero gear fear allows you to freely experiment with high-risk movement mechanics and wild positioning until your 1v3 combat responses become completely automatic.
